so it's buy nothing day.
black Friday.
I purchsace nothing today.....
I also have ridden a bicycle on this day for the past 24 years.
rain ,shine, snow, sleet ,hungover,cramping bleeding, broke up with a chick over it once.
it don't matter, day after Thanksgiving is the day I ride a bike.
I hadn't been mountain biking in almost a year.
in fact the last time I rode my Ellsworth was buy nothing day 2007.
maybe that's why I built the single speed up again......?

I was riding along and bam....it got really dark I was also in a pine grove but still it got crazy dark then the sky opened up.....

then the sun came out

Wampatuck was a Military base in WWII.
there are bunkers and weird concrete foundations all over the place in there.

this one is still open.
most are sealed but this one is open and full of water.
and it's fucking huge!
my mag light couldn't hit the other wall on this one....

so after that I just started spinning... and what do you know.... my "grove" came back.
i just pointed it at the single track and spun and I have to tell you after taking a lot of time off from riding.
wow
fucking cool.
you don't go fast.
you look at every little uphill like its Everest...
you feel every bump.

but I got it...I really got it!
hugging the seat with my knees on the way down, endo hopping the rear wheel for a better line.
straight up wheely drops, I was clearing rock gardens, making climbs I shouldn't and even hopping logs a rocks again.

now Wampatuck is pretty mello, it's no Vietnam.
but man I had fun.
and that's what it's about right?
besides if you got single speed hard tail skills....wait til you ride the couch again....

I think I will wait....and buy some new hot pink grips for this here ride.
and a new rain jacket for me.
after 15 years mine shit the bed today....
sux getting old.
but I need to wait until tomorrow...it's buy nothing bay after all..........

any way like riding fixed gear in down town traffic...
it's not how fast you go it's how much you flow....
and now that pot is decriminalized.............................

This town is fucking nuts! The traffic is out of this world and I'm not just talking about cars... thousands of cyclists, mototcycles, scooters, trucks keep this city alive. Crossing the street is a test in ones faith but somehow it all works!
